Producer Katherine Pettit is the principal of Sand KMT Productions Inc., the award winning Nelson, BC based film and television production company.  

The company is best known for its half hour documentary Sand For Now, which profiles international sand carving artists in Europe and Canada.  The film was a critical success at Montreal World Film Festival and Calgary International Film Festival and is airing on Bravo! Canada and ABC Australia until 2010.  Acclaimed Canadian director Anne Wheeler hailed the film as “…a metaphorical journey that parallels art with life, and provokes the viewer to contemplate and reflect on the obvious subject of sand sculpturing - and impermanence of our existence.”

Katherine Pettit has been a producer, director and editor for more than ten years. She is committed to producing projects that are socially and morally responsible.

Sand KMT Productions Inc. presently has several documentary projects at various stages of development.
urbanrootsgarden.com, “Urban Roots,” a ‘how-to’ inspirational documentary on urban vegetable gardening. Three dynamic gardeners are profiled who share their personal stories on living a more self-sustainable lifestyle. They provide tours of their garden while discussing practical information on how to grow specific crops. The gardeners cover the basics from preparing soil to harvest, provide new ideas on veggies to grow, and discuss raising chickens in the city. The documentary was filmed entirely in Nelson, profiles Nelson gardeners and features the music of Adham Shaikh. The running time of the film is 40 minutes.
